Relevant Work Experience
1999-2004: Biologist
- USDA, Agricultural Research Service,
Ft. Pierce, FL
- Field test design layout
and incorporation related to developing pest control measures that have
reduced environmental impact relevant to weed and pathogenic fungi/bacteria
control
- Versed in field scoping
and monitoring techniques used in study of problematic weed, insect and
pathogenic fungal species
- Designed, planned, and
performed vegetation surveys (and associated vegetation mapping) using quadrat
method, line transect method, etc., and calculated/analyzed all data related
to density, dominance, frequency, and/or importance value for species of
interest or concern
- Data collection and
analyses related to plant vigor, plant yield (tomatoes and peppers), root
system vigor, fungal and bacterial presence/absence in soil and/or on plants
- Data collection and
subsequent analyses related to culturing and identification of various fungal
pathogens
- Experimental design and
implementation of various tests designed to study the effects of experimental
biocontrol agents on pre- and post-emergent stages of various problematic weed
and fungal species
- Taxonomic identification
of exotic and native plant species found throughout the state
- Adept in recognition and
treatment of several problematic weed (endemic/native and exotic), insect,
fungal, and bacterial species found in Florida (locally and intrastate)
1993-1999:
